The term "LGBTQ+" encompasses a vast range of topics, lifestyles, and views; GayMediaDB uses a scoring system called Queer Factor to depict how much of a title's content aligns with LGBTQ+ themes. A Queer Factor is a user-submitted score that can fall between "1" through "6", where a "1" would represent a title with very little LGBTQ+ related content and a "6" would be a title that predominantly focuses on LGBTQ+ themes. The score is displayed by a rainbow gradient bar—the vibrancy of the colors in the rainbow gradient reflects a title's relevance to the aforementioned themes.

Please keep in mind, this is not to be used as a rating system for your opinion of the title; please feel free to leave reviews under the "Reviews and Ratings" tab on a title's specific page.

You must be a registered user and be logged in to assign a title a Queer Factor score.

In order to submit a Queer Factor score, you must be logged in. You can submit a score for any title by simply clicking on the rainbow "meter" bar on a title's page, or it can be left when adding a review and rating. If you have not submitted a review and rating, you can simply update your score by using the rainbow gradient bar on a title's individual page. To update your score if you have left a review & rating, you may need to delete your review in your account panel, and leave a new review to update your Queer Factor score and/or star rating.

If a TV season is grayed out, that means that only one season of the show pertains to the LGBT+ community. For instance, on American Crime's title page, there are three seasons, but only the second season pertains to LGBTQ issues. Therefore, seasons one and three are grayed out as they do not contain any LGBTQ+ plotlines.
